Your own, deliciously thick teriyaki sauce is a wonderful thing to have.
1 1/4 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 large clove of garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely minced
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Put one cup of water in a small pot and add brown sugar, soy, honey, ginger & garlic - stir well to mix and bring to a simmer
Mix remaining 1/4 cup water with cornstarch well, then stir into simmering sauce
Stir well and it’ll thicken over a couple minutes
Let cool and refrigerate - will keep a couple weeks
